About us

Hospitality & personal attention are important to us

We are Rob and Elles and originally come from the middle of the country.
In our search for a new home, this B&B quickly crossed our path and in no time this special place was ours.

We didn’t have to think long about the name. The first thing we saw when we arrived was the dike with grazing sheep. And well… that in Blije….

In addition to the happy sheep and our (usually) happy selves, we have a mega happy Australian Shepherd, named Beer. In the B&B you will come across a sign here and there with “The teaching of Beer”. You don’t have to follow this, but sometimes it can be quite useful….

Our menagerie is further supplemented with the 2 kittens Kobus and Suus. They are happy too…

Our aim is to ensure that you lack nothing

And if something is missing? Please let us know!

We like to do things in consultation:

  • Is the weather nice and would you prefer to have breakfast outside… no problem.
  • Would you like to arrive earlier or leave later… then that is certainly negotiable.
  • Do you have 3 children and do you find it annoying to leave your third child at home… then we fully understand that and we will provide an extra bed.
  • Don’t you feel like going out for dinner “all week”… then there is probably an “aanschuiftafel” (you literally join) or a “wat de pot schaft” (we will bring you a meal) possible one evening.

We are happy to think along with you and share our best tips for an unforgettable stay.

Just to come back to our Beer, the happy egg….and the fact that dogs are welcome in consultation. Beer will welcome every dog with enthusiasm and we basically do too. However, there are a few things that we think are important if you want to bring your dog.
First of all, dogs are not allowed in the guest rooms, but only on the ground floor. Your dog must therefore be able to stay alone there at night without any problems.

We request that you bring your own dog bed and/or bench, drinking bowl and dog food.

Your dog must behave friendly towards people and other dogs.

Regarding the sheep on the dike, dogs must be kept on a leash on the property and in the surrounding area.

With these “rules” in mind, you and your dog are very welcome and you can enjoy long walks in the beautiful countryside together.
